Your SNP candidate for Caithness, Sutherland & Ross

Hello, I’m Maree Todd and I’d like to introduce myself as your SNP candidate for Caithness, Sutherland & Ross in the upcoming 2021 Scottish Parliament elections.

I’m a Highlander, originally from Ullapool, now living in Strathpeffer with my husband and 3 children. I have over 20 years’ experience in health care, working for most of my professional life as a mental health pharmacist in Inverness.

Over the years, I have played an active role within my community, from volunteering as a Brownie leader to becoming an NCT antenatal teacher.

Working on the frontline within the NHS, and experience gained by volunteering, made me realise that I wanted to do more to enable individuals and communities to have a voice and crucially to be heard.

So, in 2016, I ran on the regional list in the Scottish Parliament election where I was elected as MSP for the Highlands & Islands region. For the past 5 years, I have been working hard to ensure the Highlands & Islands voice is heard in Holyrood on issues as varied as marine protection to universal credit.

In 2017, I became Minister for Children & Young People within the Scottish Government where I have worked on some of the Scottish Government’s most transformational policies – from the Baby Box to the expansion of early learning and childcare.

Although currently, as a list MSP, I cover an area that stretches from Shetland to Argyll, I’ve always wanted to represent the area I grew up in, the area I worked in, and the people I know. I am therefore asking you to choose me as the next MSP for Caithness, Sutherland & Ross. It would be the privilege of my life to represent my home constituency. I will work tirelessly for this area, ensuring we become the vibrant economic success model which rural communities, with the wealth of natural resources we own, have the right to be.
